Hello /grilling!

I'm looking for a new gas grill, that I'd like to spend no more than $700 on. I don't need a large cooking area, but I do need the highest temperatures possible. I'm a professional chef, and can't stand what most gas grills can put out. I'm not very familiar with any of the technology surrounding gas grills so I'm hoping I can rely on y'all!

With Black Friday coming up too, I'm ok to wait for the right one!

Thanks in advance!

***UPDATE***

I guess I should have clarified something, I'm looking for the least amount of work possible, is it difficult to put charcoal into a chimney, start with wood starter and pour that out in 15 min? No, but do I want to do that? God I cannot express to y'all how lazy I want to be about this, literally thinking about it makes me want to put a Ramen in the microwave instead. I want to push a button, walk away, come back, cook, and eat.

I do have a Kamado style grill and a 150ga offset smoker, when I want to do direct coal heat I just use some wood in the Kamado style.

All that being said u/aedn just showed up with this glorious Recteq bullseye :

This is exactly what I'm looking for. And the bonus of some wood flavor in there! Going to start diving into researching this, anyone have any experience with it?

Thanks for all the replies reddit!

A metal plate with propane torches underneath it!

If you’re looking to narrow your search, you could look into brands that feature IR burners, though I’m not aware of one that uses IR as a primary source of heat for the main cooking area. But look into that angle.

Another option if you’re looking for suggestions is to upgrade to charcoal. Good lump charcoal will burn quite hot. You’ll tick your price point box with charcoal too.

Really your best bet would probably be to figure out what the BTU output range is that you need and then do your research from there.

My weber genesis gets to ~650°-700° in about 15 min. My mom’s weber spirit will get to 600° no problem.

That said, infrared grills will hit 1000° in like 10 min. I’ve never used one though, so can’t comment on the experience

Kamado style grills can hold very high temps up to 800 degrees

    Buy a used weber…

But realistically, if you want the “hottest temperature possible” then go ahead and get a home salamander grill

  6. Residential gas grills are not going to do what you want. Rectec  bullseye, or a charcoal grill can get temps that high.

  7. How is it, it NEVER FAILS, that every time a post like this comes up with a very specific “want” in a grill, it is almost ALWAYS with a price restriction that puts it JUST below actually being able to buy the grill that fills that need???

My 3-burner Genesis, with the additional sear burner, has no problem hitting 600°, and realistically is probably hotter over the sear zone, but OP is going to need to add 200-300 bucks to his cap to get into one new.

  8. For $900 you could get Meadow Creek SK23 Steak Grill

Recteq bullseye or bullseye deluxe. Gets up to 750° for the regular and 800° for the deluxe. Priced way under your budget

Edit:the deluxe gets up to 1000° now

so i’ve got a charcoal fired spitfiregrills unit and it rocks.. got a crazy hot pizza oven underneath the coals that hits 900+ and a grill space above the coals. It doubles as a smoker when i’m in the mood and time slows down

OP, I have a TEC grill and it sounds like exactly what you want. Easily over 1000°F, heats up quick, and cleaning is just putting it on full blast for 5 minutes after you’re done. It also heats extremely evenly and can get low like a normal grill. I’ve commented about it elsewhere on this sub but I love mine. 20 years old and works amazing, full stainless steel build so not gonna rust out. Only downside is you’ll have to buy used because they’re super expensive new.

If this sub allowed pictures in the replies I’d show you. PM me if you’re curious.

I was reading this and thinking “dude needs a bullseye”. I have the regular one AND the deluxe – if you want max temps, the deluxe is the way to go and it’s 19% off right now for “black friday”

    Nothing can compare to infrared.
