Ah, so that’s what those are called. I bought some at a store in Mexico but they didn’t have a label/name and I tried searching a bunch and couldn’t find the name. The only place I’ve found them so far in Toronto is a place in St Lawrence market and they call them Portuguese tarts.

Bomou’s canele are top tier, however I do find a distinct vanilla extract flavour (which is still great). But duo patisserie in markham in my opinion has a slightly better canele in terms of pure vanilla flavour and burnt sugar crust.
