Awesome, I am excited to try this one. I have a case of 2018 I haven’t even popped yet!

Don’t pay as much attention as I used to to WS top 10. This year seems particularly uninspired.

Top 5 all have cab, and there is only 1 white in the top ten? Pitiful.

I mean, they are all great wine, (love Don M getting the nod), but it feels very corporate steakhouse, which makes sense, because that’s the same customer base as WS.

  5. Hopefully making the list doesn’t make Drouhin’s prices skyrocket. They were always one of the better price ratios.

  6. Awesome. Just got my Drouhin shipment last week with a bunch of Roserock. Visited there and joined their club back in June.

Don Melchor!?!!? Hahaha. What a joke. It’s like saying Dr. Pepper is beverage of the year. How about picking something that is worth exploring a little Mr. S.?

Nothing too exciting there, though I do really like the Drouhin Roserock. Actually already had that set aside for some salmon I’m grilling tonight. Hope the price doesn’t spike on the mailing list now!

I recently received a free subscription to WS and after getting the first few volumes it is clear that they focus on large production wines that their reader base can access. Further, it’s a for profit business so it makes sense that their reviews focus on producers that can advertise within its pages. I would imagine if they regularly wrote about small producers with reasonable prices those producers would be crushed by demand. Cult wines are a different story as their prices should prevent them from seeing any impact from a WS write up. Take the magazine for what it is, a mouthpiece for mass produced accessible wine.
