It looks fantastic, my tips are to do designs that excite and challenge you, although it seems you have a natural talent so finding something challenging may be… a challenge, ha!

I can’t believe this was your first ever cake – incredible piping work!

For this being your first cake I really like it!
I’m not a baker and I can’t decorate anything to save my life but I think this would be an adorable first birthday cake

My first cake looked a little different….😂

Incredibly smooth and neat for your first time this is something to be so proud of

My only tips are to practice piping shells, a lot of people are using the shell tip in the same way as you, where they’re folding the buttercream over itself. For cleaner and more full shells you can use a technique of exerting pressure at an angle until the shell is formed and then pulling forward and piping the next.

That doesn’t mean the way you used the shell is “wrong” I don’t think all cakes need to be decorated the same way or that one technique is better than the rest, just that you might not have considered this before and it can give you a more delicate border

Cake’s so good! Pipe some cute red/pink flowers onto it! 😀

First ever? That’s annoying! My advice is to get worse so I don’t feel so bad about myself.

  15. Nicely done. The only tip that is have is to keep practicing piping, there’s some squiggles and variations in sizes with the shells.

First ever?! Omg you have cake decorating superpowers!!!

Obviously gorgeous especially for your first time. The only thing I see is your top border could use practice. It looks like you’re just squeezing and doing a vertical zigzag kind of pattern. The proper technique is hard to describe in writing but you star by holding the piping bag at a 45° ish angle (like this →) / away from the cake (to your right), then big squeeze and lessen pressure as you get to the bottom so it becomes almost triangular in shape |> (←thats to indicate the big squeeze and taper off shape).

It’s sort of a squeeze – release – squeeze – release thing while your arm keeps moving to the right. Maybe someday I’ll find or make a gif of this because it’s so much easier to understand with a visual

Edit: to clarify you should never be moving the piping bag to the left at all on these. Yours look like you’re going right, left, long right. But it should be big squeeze and releasing pressure while moving to the right

Looks like you’ve already used all the tips (piping tips). Looks great, I would just add a pop of color or contrast.

  22. MettreSonGraindeSel

None needed – it’s beautiful as is

  23. consuela_bananahammo

This is so beautiful. I love a simple vintage cake. Nicely done!

  24. Kartoffel_Kaiser

My tip is put that entire cake in my mouth immediately

  25. My only tip is very minor only because it’s what I usually do, but for this specific style of cake I would’ve used a larger open star tip for the top border piping and brought it in from the edge ever so slightly so it wasn’t right on the cusp. But for a first cake it’s really good

  26. Limp_Day1216

My tip is to put that in a refrigerator box and send it to me
