I recently got a used egg and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations to get it refreshed before using it? It's in good condition but was kept outside uncovered. Here are some photos: https://imgur.com/a/Tkzkdw3
Also it's my first egg and my first smoker, so any general advice would be appreciated!

You can easily clean the inside by doing a clean burn (get it over 400 for a few hours, just let it burn the lump you put in). The daisy wheel can easily be scrubbed then oiled, it’s cast iron so basically season it. Nest looks ok, I wipe mine with WD-40. Couldn’t tell how the bands are, if you really want to make it like new get new bands to put on. The outside can just be wiped with a wet cloth and mild soap. I’ve used Simple Green as well to clean the ceramic outside.
Edit: Bands look ok, just hit them with WD-40 on a towel to clean them up and get surface rust. That egg will clean up just fine!
A good soapy wash on the outside and a hot burn for the inside…
Should be enough. Oil the top lid so it season’s with the heat.
If its not been used in a while keep the temp low and work up to hotter, give time for it to dry out.
You’ll need a grate in the bottom, I’d advise getting a charcoal basket. Then there are all the accessories..
See if anything needs replacing like the gasket..

Nice pickup man. Looks like it’s in good shape. #1 – replace the gasket with a higher end one, like a Rutland. 2nd – you could show the vent cap some love or replace it with the stainless one.
Mine was inherited from my uncle who never used it. Worse condition than this. I took it all apart. Cleaned everything out. Replaced all the hardware and new handle and bands with the modern hinge. It’s been a champ ever since! High recommend the kick ash basket for it and a smoke ware cap. You’re all set
Unless you didn’t include the metal peice in the pics, I’d suggest getting a kick ash basket or something similar. It’s a solid upgrade that’s inexpensive to what comes normally with the egg
