I bought a joule sous vide in 2020 and today after using it I found it had come apart in the water. Anyone else experience this? Or is this expected lifespan?

  1. That’s about how my Anova was and it wasn’t even 2 years. Plastic becomes brittle when heated and cooled repeatedly I guess

mine broke just under two years with very minimal use…joule sucks they have awful longevity. I went with the mostly metal cheap $65 monoprice sousvide now and while it doesn’t have wifi or an app and it’s 4x the size it’s a tank and hasn’t given me any issues.

I got mine around 2017 and it’s still going strong. I have been using it less and less over that time, though. This is serving as a reminder to run a cleaning cycle though – not that that was necessarily your issue.

Edit: I’ve found the joule to be an absolute tank. I just had a flashback to a winter where I used it to keep the bath water warm a couple times lol

My 2018 anova is fine. But sh*t happens. Good thing black friday is around the corner. You can get a inkbird for like 60 euro

I got mine when it originally came out. Think it was on kickstarter or something like that. Still going strong. Don’t remember when it first came out.

Honestly, I’m shocked my Inkbird is still working and working well. When I bought it I wasn’t sure I’d be into sous vide or how often I’d do it, so I figured it’s better to risk it with an Inkbird than something more expensive. Three years later it’s still going strong (to be fair I only use it once every week or so).
