Haven't used in a few months and a little rust accumulated on my cast iron grid. Just put it in the egg and warm up? Put a little oil on it?

Burn it with high heat, scrub it. If you want it to look nice season it with oil, otherwise just use it.

Scrape it off and send it

Scrub the snot out of it, put on cooking oil, and season it.
Or buy stainless. That’s what I did. I suck at maintaining grill cast iron.

I had the same thing happen to me. Take a sheet pan. Pour vinegar and baking soda on it. Let it set for about 1-2 hours and most of it will be gone with minimal scrubbing afterwards.

Light the grill scrub with your grill brush or wadded up foil and rub with tallow and continue cooking on it. The more you use the more seasoned that will get. I leave my cast-iron grills on my BIg green egg all the time and they are well seasoned.

Heat it up and scrape it.

I don’t want rust on my grill grates, so I’d wire brush it then scrub it with soap and water. You’ll need to season it right away, so rub it with some oil, then put it a hot grill to season. Repeat with light oil and high heat a few times and voila, it’s ready to cook.
