“Gochujang is a fermented condiment that’s a fundamental ingredient in Korean cooking. It’s a thick, sticky, and spicy-sweet paste made from red chile pepper flakes, glutinous rice, fermented soybeans, and salt. The word “gochu” is Korean for “chili” and “jang” means “fermented paste or sauce”. Gochujang is similar to miso paste, but with the addition of fiery chilies. ” (1)
