I had the unexpected pleasure of tasting vintage Tott’s when visiting my parents over the summer. This was collecting dust in the back of a cabinet for who knows how long. Note the original price tag of $6.49.

I fully expected to pour this down the drain. But it was surprisingly not bad at all. In fact, it was almost good in its own way. Not good in the way it was intended certainly. It had long lost any sense of freshness. But it was still sparkling, and had a ripe apple nose and flavor more akin to cider. Paired really well with some after dinner cheeses. There was another bottle next to it we agreed to save for another day. If it’s as good as this one I’ll be thrilled.
