Review – I think about [this comment](https://old.reddit.com/r/FoodLosAngeles/comments/u8ahfz/chicken_sandwich_from_daybird_one_of_my_favorite/i5k1bdg/) a lot when I think about what good asian fusion is to me. This is the second sandwich of theirs I’ve tried, the other being their honey walnut shrimp burger. This is not a nashville type hot chicken, this is a Taiwanese popcorn chicken like seasoning on a bigger piece of chicken. It has a non mayo like but definitely also mayo like dressing that uses a slaw that tastes more like banh mi vegetables than it does American coleslaw. The bread they use is a pineapple bun that reminds me a lot of this one boroh danish dessert bread 85 degrees sells. Googling tells me they might actually be the same bread. If you’ve had that bread, you know it’s not overly sweet. In fact, the buttery-ness makes it pretty savory and it all really works well. It’s not the biggest, maybe a 5 inch sandwich? So not a “value” item
The shrimp burger – imagine the filling of har gow that you get at dim sum lightly fried and turned into a patty.

Just tried this for the first time this week and it was really good, but I must say the walnut honey walnut shrimp burger is even better!
