Drank this modified Vietnamese Coffee at a restaurant the other day. They put some sort of egg custard on top along with some condensed milk at the bottom

  1. I remember trying this in Vietnam. I think they just called it “egg coffee”. It has frothed egg whites on top. It was quite tasty!

My dad used to do this with Malta in a blender with egg yolk and sugar…so foamy and delicious its called, ” Malta con huevo” I sure miss him

  3. Interesting! I’ve tried the standard Vietnamese coffee but not this alternative egg style. Looks good!

The only drink I’ve had egg in was a Ramos Gin Fizz, nothing coffee related. 🙂

In places like Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic we have a similar drink called ponche and the coffee is made with a (greca )a mocha pot

Vietnamese egg coffee is the best drink ive ever had, both iced and hot. I drank like 3 in a row when I visited Hanoi

I love Vietnamese egg coffee. I had never had it until a specialty Vietnamese cafe opened about a mile from my home. If you’re ever in Denver, you gotta check this place out. It’s called Tí Cafe.

It’s called ca phe trung (pronounced something like “chung”) which means, as others have said, egg coffee. The custard is usually egg yolks, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla beaten together. Damned delicious.

Source: lived in Hanoi and made it at my shop in the US.

“Modified” coffee obviously means something different to you than it does to me.
