Had lunch at Septime (1*) in Paris last week. They offered the primtemps 5 course carte blanche menu for 70€. Made reservations the minute it opened up – it isn’t that difficult as long as you are hitting the site at the exact time it opens. Tables will be available for at least a few minutes, unlike trying to get a camping reservation at Yosemite.
Had a 12:15 reservation and the last course was served at 1:52.
The amuse broth smelled very strongly of butter but the toast was not overpowered by it nor was it greasy. The toasted brioche that followed was amazing, together with the butter. I inhaled it.A very good start.
Ceviche dish was good but doesn’t really stand out.
Asparagus dish was very good, well balanced and light.
Carrot dish was amazing, probably the best of the meal. Soft but still held its shape and was delightfully sweet. Sauces were a good complement.
The quail thing wasn’t the easiest to eat and isn’t something I would normally order but it was fine. The side veggies were very good.
Weakest was the dessert, which was served with a non-crispy cracker thing. The entire thing was quite light and just ok.
On top of the brioche, a decent bread was also served.
Solid 1 star, but I don’t think it belongs on the world’s top 50 list. 70€ is a very fair price for this meal. I’d return.
