How do I safely hook my gas grill up to this? It’s a propane connection. Coming out of the side of my house.

Are you sure that is propane and not Natural Gas?

Several ways to do it. First u need a gas regulator after that you can mount a flex gasline on it 48” make sure its rated to ur grills btu ratio. Check the orfices of ur grill make sure they are for propane.

It’s likely illegal for you to do it yourself anyway.
