Ingredients: extra virgin olive oil, a few garlic cloves and/or onion minced (I added a shallot because I had to use it up), ~tsp of cumin, ~tsp paprika, salt and pepper to taste, lemon juice from one lemon, two cans of fava beans, chopped parsley, chopped tomato, 1/4 cup water (can adjust based on desired consistency), any hot peppers if desired

    Instructions:
    1. Combine lemon juice and hot peppers (if using) in a bowl and set aside.
    2. Heat some oil with garlic and onion in your pan. Add your spices and let simmer.
    3. I rinsed my beans before adding them so I could have more control over the sodium. Once the beans and water are added mash to desired consistency using a fork or potato masher.
    4. Top with chopped parsley and tomatoes, drizzle lemon juice + peppers and more olive oil.
    5. Eat warm with pita.

If the internet has taught me anything, it’s that you never go “full medames”. Apparently fava beans are okay though. +1
