    ### Ingredients

    * 450 g extra firm tofu
    * 4 tbsp corn starch
    * 8-10 rice paper sheets
    * 8-10 nori sheets, cut into rectangles
    * 1/2 cup cucumber matchsticks
    * 1/2 cup carrot matchsticks
    * 1 avocado
    * 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
    * 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
    * 1 cup sushi rice
    * 1.5-2 cups water

    **Chili Glaze for Tofu**

    * 1 tbsp soy sauce
    * 1 tbsp sriracha
    * 1 tsp brown sugar
    * 1 tsp garlic powder
    * 1 tsp onion powder
    * 2 tsp leftover corn starch
    * 1/4 cup water

    **Chili Oil Dipping Sauce**

    * 1 tbsp soy sauce
    * 2 tbsp chili oil

    ### Instructions

    1. Rinse and drain the sushi rice. Add 1.5 cups water first and cook on stovetop for about 18 minutes. If rice is still uncooked, add 1/2 cup of water and cook for a few minutes. Cover the lid and let it cook more in the steam.
    2. Slice tofu into rectangles. Coat in corn flour and fry them until crispy.
    3. Mix together the ingredients for chili glaze. Pour over tofu and stir until the sauce thickens.
    4. Wet the rice paper in water for a split second and lay it on a clean surface.
    5. Layer with nori sheet, sushi rice, tofu, avocado, veggies. Wrap the rice paper horizontally, then vertically.
    6. Mix the white and black sesame seeds. Roll one side of the sushi rolls into sesame seeds.
    7. Fry the rolls in oil until crispy on both sides. Serve with hot chili oil dipping sauce.

    I read this as “Rice Krispy sushi roll” and had to do a double take.

    These look like the type of thing I would eat WAY too many of

    This isn’t sushi.

    Tofu rice paper roll, yes.

    I don’t think you mean to misappropriate Japanese terminology, but [sushi](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sushi) is made with vinegared and sugared rice. Just because you use sushi rice doesn’t make it sushi.

    Edit: When I said “sushi rice” I mean the [type of rice](https://www.webstaurantstore.com/guide/658/types-of-rice.html) used (e.g. arborio, brown, jasmine, etc.) This recipe calls for using the type of rice called sushi, but in the recipe does not season the cooked rice in a way to make it sushi.

    It continues to be deeply uncomfortable watching some TikToker stuff their maw while looking directly into the camera. At least put the gratuitous eating shot at the end.

    I know people don’t post here much because of people like me, who do nothing but criticize recipes without posting their own videos. I want to preface this by saying that I’m thankful you posted this and it does inspire me to try something new in the kitchen. This would be a great meal prep lunch. With that being said, I also must say…

    How do you know someone young made
    this? It has enough oil to give me the poops for a day and a half.

    You don’t even need to bread and fry the tofu, but if you did you can use about a quarter of that oil. Also, I would omit that second fry after it’s wrapped. It’s minimal gain for a lot of extra trouble.
