I’m not a Chinese cuisine expert but good Szechuan really is a singular experience.

My meal was an assault on the senses for better or worse. Both dishes came out almost boiling hot and I impatiently stuffed my face. The combo of burning my mouth + the heavy aromatics and peppercorns was visceral. The noodles were a nice reprieve and the flavor was outstanding.

I had a ton of leftovers and look forward to eating it again in the controlled environment of my home kitchen. Would go again.

My first visit to Chengdu Taste was life-changing.

  3. So good, both great dishes. My other favorites are the eggplant, house fried rice, and probably my top choice is sliced fish with tofu pudding – it’s like an improved version of mapo tofu.

Omg I love Mapo tofu. There’s a Sichuan place in Lomita that I get it from when I’m craving it. This and white rice is all I need.

Next time get the toothpick lamb, if you didn’t already on this visit.
