I’m new to grilling and am looking to buy a grill. A big incentive is because when I’m cooking inside on my gas stove, the smoke is dirtying the ceiling above it despite having the fan on. For this reason, I’m looking at a grill with a side burner so I can use a wok for some high heat cooking outside. Would the infrared on the Napoleon be better for this despite having a lower BTU of 9000 versus the 12000 on the Weber?

More importantly, will the Weber be good enough for searing steaks, burgers, and salmon with its sear zone or should I go for the Napoleon that has a higher BTU?

Any other grills I should look at? Should I look into get a smoke box if I want to add some of that charcoal taste despite using a gas grill?

Can’t go wrong with a Weber. I’ve had my Spirit II for probably 8 years now, sits outside year round in MO weather, zero issues.

I’d go with the weber spirit. I’ve had my weber for 8 years, sits outside all year long in Northern Canadian winters (with a cover), and the only age showing is a bit of weathering on the knobs.

The weber warranty is great as well.

Edit: I do also have a weber kettle. If I was only going to have one grill I’d go gas/propane solely for the convenience factor. You just turn it on, grill, turn it off. My charcoal grill I use when I have a bit more time to manage it all. Often on the weekends, but the flavour is phenomenal.

I would go weber spirit first, then at the end of the season pick up a weber kettle on clearance. I got my last one for $80 at wal mart around mid-end September

Save your receipt and Weber will replace parts for life. Brother has rebuilt his three times.
