AS its a wine from the UK and looks like a white wine, I’d say it is communicating the Dryness or sweetness of the wine, where 1 is dry up usually something like 4 or 5 which is sweet.
Red wines in the UK have a similar classification for light bodied wines A up to E for very full bodied.
