Having 2 parents that were born and raised in South Georgia, and having spent most of my childhood living in the south, I feel like I’ve come to know a thing or two about what makes the perfect Potato Salad. This recipe is the perfect side dish for any cookout or family gathering. When you make it, be ready to become the appointed potato salad maker for every future family function that calls for it!

INGREDIENTS:

**DISCLAIMER:
Remember to adjust seasonings and condiment amounts to your liking! What I have listed below is a rough estimate of the measurements I used b/c as you can see in the video, I didn’t do any exact measuring. What’s most important with this recipe is the method and ingredients used not the actual amounts. The amount of each ingredient is up to you and what you like.

5lb bag of Yukon gold potatoes, diced
6 hard-boiled eggs, diced
1-2 cups of mayo
2-3 tbsp of yellow mustard
2-3 tbsp of sweet salad cubes (+1 tsp of the juice, optional)
2 tbs of salt
1 1/2 tsp of black pepper
2 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of onion powder

Enjoy!!

  1. Great video. This is just how I make my potato salad – simple and uncomplicated. One difference with me is that I usually add 1/4 cup of the relish and even then my wife complains that it's not enough. Upon request, I will add one chopped onion and/or 4 chopped sticks of celery but my preference is just how you did it – simple and delicious.

  2. I make mine mostly like this but I also like to add some Ms. Dash garlic & herb & spicy brown mustard, celery & onion 😋, regular pickles 🥒 not a fan of the sweet ones

  3. Spot on … please note that subtraction is impossible so experiment gradually … I love simple and delicious

  4. I like you laughed. Now I get ready to cook. I'm from indonesia and I do like potatoes salad. Thanks for your recipe 😘

  5. Love it! Easy simple directions and very pleasant voice! Love the fact you don't do exact measures and you taste as you go. My gramma cooked like that too 😊

  13. There's 3 versions of "classic " southern potato salad depending on which southern state you're in. Made with dukes, made with miracle whip and everyone else.

  14. I added celery seeds and fresh garden chopped dill and garden parsley and then sprinkled paprika to pretty the top up complete hit even my husband said it was better then his mama’s and dam that was a serious compliment because hers reminded me of my mama’s recipe that I just couldn’t get right but now, May they be resting in peace smiling that I finally made it right thank you.

  15. I’ve literally made your potato salad twice in one week. And daddy and kids love it. And I’m about to make it again today. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
