A collaboration dinner between Danny Lledo of xiquet (a Spanish restaurant in DC) and Julian Serrano (celebrity chef in Las Vegas, who lends his name to many restaurants including Picasso). I prefer the traditional Picasso menu but this limited opportunity dinner had a greater emphasis on seafood and spanish flavors, both of which shined through the dishes.

Highlights for me were the gooseneck barnacle (I’d never had one before), the crab paella (amazing, better than jose andres’s paellas), and the sauces presented alongside the turbot.

The dessert was wildly disappointing and I forgot to take a picture of the petit fours.

But what I love most about picasso are the wine pairings; the somms here know their stuff and this night was no exception. I had a LOT of krug, some wonderful spanish reds, and a 2016 vega sicilia (valbuena #5) that blew me away.
