I’m so proud of this lone, fantastic piece of okra I picked today! The very first edible anything I’ve ever grown!

That is a gorgeous okra pod!
Okra is my favorite vegetable. High five to you.

It’s beautiful. You might find it to be a little bit woody or tough. If you want to reduce that you might want to harvest when the pods are a little smaller. If they are tough, you can try stewing them. I love okra!

So last year was my first year growing okra in Oregon. Like most of what I plant, my wife said she loved it. I managed to grow one pod on three plants so I let the seeds mature. This year I had about 5 massive trees of okra plants. So much okra. My wife cooked with it once and it was pretty good. I put one in some soup I made and I liked how it thickened the broth. Then I put about 5 in a soup and it made some kind of stringy snot broth. We now have about 40 pods maturing in the garden. I guess I’ll have a lot of seeds soon.
