Red Braised Tofu

  1. ###Ingredients

    * Tender or semi-firm Tofu – 800g
    * Garlic – 3 Cloves
    * Leek – 100g
    * Pixian Broad Bean Paste – 1 tbsp
    * Soy Sauce – 3 tbsp
    * Dark Soy Sauce – 1 tbsp
    * Hot Water – 100ml
    * Corn/Potato Starch – 1 tbsp, mixed with 20ml water
    * Scallion – 1 Stalk

    ###Instructions

    1. Slice the garlic, cut the scallion into long pieces.
    2. Cut the tofu into cubes (about 2cm wide). Heat up the wok over medium-high heat, when it’s hot add oil, pan fry the tofu until most sides are golden and crispy, take the tofu out
    3. Add garlic, stir for 30s then add pixian broad bean paste, stir for 30s. Add leek, stir for 30s. Add pan-fried tofu, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and hot water, mix and let it cook for 3-5 minutes, when 2/3 of the sauce is gone, add the starched water, let is cook for another minute or two, until most of the sauce is gone
    4. Add scallion and enjoy
