    1. Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface. Spread a thin layer of softened butter on the outer sides of each bread slice. Make sure you also spread some to the edges.
    2. Heat a non-stick pan over low/medium heat. Place the buttered side of one bread slice onto the pan and put the cheese slices on top.
    3. Place the second bread slice on top of the cheese, with the buttered side facing up. Cover the pan with a lid.
    4. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bread turns a golden brown and crispy texture.
    5. Use a spatula to carefully flip the sandwich to the other side. Cover again with the lid and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side.
    6. You can gently press the sandwich with a spatula while grilling to help the cheese melt evenly. Once both sides are beautifully golden and the cheese is melted, carefully lift the sandwich with the spatula and transfer it to a cutting board.
    7. Allow the sandwich to rest for a moment to let the cheese settle a bit. Then, use a sharp knife to cut the grilled cheese sandwich in half diagonally or straight down the middle, creating two triangular halves.
