Dollar slice’s are on the Mount Rushmore of nyc food.
I thank god that my high ass can get still get a dollar slice( Not 1.50 foh with that ). Just about the perfect drunk/munchie snack. Quick and easy, customizable, portable. What’s not to like?

I’d much rather get a decent slice from my local tbh. Dollar places are usually rubbish.

My hottest nyc food take is this: our pizza isn’t that much better. It’s more that it’s ubiquitous, cheap and fast in a way that other places can’t replicate. In that way the dollar slice, or the local joint open at midnight for post booze slices are the actual soul and of New York pizza.
And the places that do try to replicate slice culture can’t, there isn’t enough foot traffic so instead of letting the pizza cool and reheat properly they keep it under heat lamps so in that way nyc cheap fast food slices are better, but pizza is plenty good in most places.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk, you may now pelt with tomatoes for not blindly claiming nyc pizza superiority

I remember my first dollars slice like ten years ago. I told my friend it wasn’t good. And he’s like for $1 you’re lucky it’s warm. He was right and that changed my whole perspective.

2 Bros used to have solid dollar pizza. I had a slice the other day ($1.50!!!) and it was super bread-y and the bottom wasn’t even cooked long enough. I remember one of their locations back in the day had other items for $1 like fried chicken, vegetable rice, fries etc. I feasted like a king in high school.

Dollar slices are terrible.

I cant do it anymore. I havent had a good dollar slice in a long time. I just say fox em and head to any of the other pizza joints around the city, i dont mind dishing out 2-3 dollars for a slice thats steps above the dollar slice. Thats just me though, everyone got their own taste and preffies.

2bros literally used to taste like cardboard with ketchup and bad mozzarella on it. I would only eat in college days when i had literally $3 to my name. 2 slices and an Arizona. Never again.

Dollar slices are never good. That’s what’s not to like. Even the picture, the cheese looks congealed. The truth is, you need to pay for good pizza in NYC like everywhere else. But it should be obvious that nothing is good that costs $1.

This post had me so a deep dive on manhattan and seeing how so much food is at the tip of your fingers. I’m jealous.

ITT: tons of people who forgot their roots and how good a dollar slice is when you’re broke Shit saved me on my high school days and is better than some mediocre and more expensive spots
A good dollar slice is great

i can’t eat dollar slices even while drunk anymore. it’s like a 50-50 chance that they’ll absolutely demolish my stomach, and it’s really not worth it considering the awful quality. but it’s nice knowing that there’s still cheap options out there
