I stored a packaged pre-cooked prime rib at 48 degrees all week. Should I toss it?
I know nothing about meat, I was gifted this packaged pre-cooked prime rib a week ago and stuck it in the mini fridge. Didn’t realize it was only set to 48 degrees. I haven’t opened it to smell yet – should I even bother or is it trash?

48 Fahrenheit? I’d open it and sniff test but I bet it’s fine. I’d risk it but I’d cook it medium instead of rare and make sure the outside gets a good sear

A few hours at 48 and I’d risk it, not a week.

I’d sniff it. It’s precooked but that doesn’t mean there won’t be some bacteria. A week is a bit long though and honestly I’m curious what you stored it in that was a consistent 48 degrees.
If it was a restaurant obviously no go, but at home if you’re just gonna serve it to yourself, smell it and trust your nose. I wouldn’t serve it to unwitting guests or anyone who is immunocompromised though.
