Bresca, 1 Michelin Star, Washing D.C.; Tasting menu $158pp, Wagyu addition, 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, 23% service charge automatically applied; Total – $600.73

Atmosphere – Lively, almost too loud; well lit area that has a bar along the right wall, a hidden kitchen in the back; seems crowded, the tables seem very close to each other, I was nearly touching the person to my left while there were 3 feet of space to the right of my wife, assuming that the discrepancy was with tables used together for parties of more than just 2 but the space in the center of the restaurant seemed the same, we noticed people at the bar hitting people that were sitting in the center tables because they were far too close to the bar and there was no space between them for people to move.

Service – Great service, not intrusive, water was almost filled per sip, plates were clear quickly but not before being completely finished with them and servers were very knowledgeable. There was a sommelier but once we told here were were not doing the wine pairing she never came back to offer a glass pairing but our server did make recommendations.

Food – Overall great! Only let down for the night was the hamachi to me, the vinaigrette was jellied and seemed to separate the flavors unpleasantly during the bite.

Overall – Great experience, seemed overpriced in comparison to other 1 stars I have been to but I would still highly recommend to others.

I’ve eaten here and loved the techniques and sauces. Their sauces are really top tier. There were a few fails though and there was one dish that was so bad, I made a yelp profile and had to review them because if it. But the things that were good were really good.

My take. Ryan focuses on his two star restaurant Jont which will be 3 stars no doubt in the next few years. He has what it takes and so does the team in that kitchen. His CDC running bresca isn’t as talented as him so bresca takes a hit because of that.
