Tried my hand at canning for the first time over the summer. These are some peach halves packed in light syrup according the Ball cookbook I have. I just need some assurance that all is well and they’re safe to eat. Obviously there’s a lot of room in there; I thought I packed them in well enough, but evidently I could have fit more. I’ve also noticed little bubbles floating up if I tip the jar a bit. Is that normal? I did my best release the air before putting on the lid.

Thank you! I didn’t realize I would have such anxiety about this 😅

Don’t keep the ring on for storage. It can conceal a false seal.

If you followed the Ball recipe to the letter. Ensured proper waterbath times and procedure, and the lids sealed…you are all good.

The amount of patches or fruit per jar– it always amazes me how I think I have enough in each jar bit after a few days the fruit has all risen with a lot of syrup below. I have come to love using the syrup now too. Enjoy!!

As mentioned here, remove the rings after full cool down (24hrs).

    Happy Canning!!
