During a special event titled ‘Sin Union No Hay Fusion’ (Without Unity There’s No Fusion), Chef Ivan Garcia (Zona Rosa) and Chef Cosme Aguilar (Casa Enrique) hosted a one night Mexican cuisine tasting menu event.
You can see the menu, but the courses consisted of:
– Nantucket scallops in aguachile negro
– Tamal chiapaneco
– Shrimp and octopus tostada
– Duck enmoladas (absolute standout, the mole and roasted then shredded duck was amazing)
– Eggnog flan
Each course was accompanied by a cocktail or glass of wine, which made me feel like I got a good value as the ticket for the event was $100.
Chef Ivan and Chef Cosme were nice enough to greet every table and ask about the food, and it was awesome being able to pick their brain about their tastes.
Just a sidenote, Chef Cosme is currently cooking at a new restaurant in the Village named QuiQue Crudo. It’s by the same owners as Casa Enrique and it features a few dishes different from Casa Enrique, such as a delicious lobster ceviche and fried oysters, all with its own Mexican flavor. It’s a tiny little spot next to Cotenna and a great spot to get a drink and a few dishes, tapas style.
