Took a spontaneous trip to see a show over the weekend and was recommended some places/read about others on this and other subreddits. I’m not much of a city person, but I loved my time there. Here’s my stops over 24 hours:

1. Joe’s Pizza: Read about this one here on someone’s ultimate pizza tier post. The line had stretched to the end of the street but moved fairly quickly. As someone who loves thin crust, this pizza was great! The crust was crispy, the sauces had great flavor and nothing was greasy (pepperonis were naturally but didn’t detract from the pizza). The red sauce slices were my favorite. I got the spinach and garlic one based off of the post I read. I’m just not a cooked spinach person in general I guess, but wanted the garlic 😂. Red pepper flakes helped for me.

2. HeyTea: Another one I read about on here. Would do again for boba that was close to Joe’s. I got the brown sugar oatmilk boba. I asked for the ‘normal’ amount of ice and sugar as I’m not really sure how much ice/sugar it should have and would do less ice next time.

3. Absolute Bagel: I started off my Sunday morning by making my way up there. The line wasn’t long at that point so I was happy. I had an egg bagel in Chicago and have been looking for other egg bagel places ever since and this egg bagel didn’t disappoint! I wish I had gotten to try the smoked fish too and other spreads. I also got a couple of egg bagels for the road 😆 (Sal and Carmine, a place I read about on this subreddit, wasn’t open at the time I was up there unfortunately)

4. Bird and Branch: recommended to me by u/wineorwhine. Cute little shop! Had a monthly special coffee with peanut butter and chocolate flavors (yes, I need my coffee to be sweet). Would go again! Also got a cute shirt ☺️

5. Schmackary’s: Went here because 1. I saw it on my way into Bird and Branch 2. Only Murders in the Building. I would go again not just because of the show and the amazing person at the register, but also because the White Island cookie (white chocolate, macadamia nut, coconut) was AWESOME.

6. La Maison du Chocolat: Yet another recommendation I read about as something to bring home to others. I got dark chocolate covered orange slices and they gave me chocolate covered ginger as well! Definitely need to save some cash or stop there first if I go there again.

7/8. Los Tacos No. 1: Recommendation thanks to u/jojointheflesh. The carne asada was so tender! And I don’t like raw onion in anything but I ate that taco raw onion and all. That may not say much, but shows how much I liked it!

9. Magnolia Bakery: I of course had to try the famous banana pudding. I thought it was good. I also had to stuff it down right before entering the line at TSA (the smallest is 4 oz) because I got it right before leaving for the airport and silly me didn’t know there was a magnolia bakery beyond TSA.😅

I also wanted to try Ichiran but it was on my last day and I didn’t have time to wait in the line, which wasn’t too long, before I had to go. I definitely have some go-to’s and will still be trying other recommendations I read about next time I’m there!
