This is exactly why my husband and I never go out for dinner on V day. We make pasta with caviar, a green salad with champagne vinaigrette, a great bottle of wine. Watch a movie. Devices off. A perfect evening!

  2. What am I missing here? Cant read the description in the pictures since it’s cut off

Yeah, Valentine’s Day menus are often a ripoff

Isn’t this a normal thing valentine day ?

They always have a set menu to meet the demand of hosting valentine day dinner

It the same with restaurants week and some restaurants also have a Groupon menu too

I think it would be reasonable to ask them to let you cancel without penalty if you wanted since they switched menus on you

  6. This is why wife and I are planning on going to the local pub in town for Valentines and eat at the bar

Tell them you’re canceling, why, and expect your deposit back. If they refuse tell them you’ll have your card company / bank reverse it – businesses hate chargebacks, that will probably get them to do it. If they still don’t, get your bank or CC to take care of it. Most are good about these things.

Definitely cancel, and expect it to be canceled without penalty.

Update: I called them and asked if the menu has changed and they confirmed. I asked to cancel and get my deposit back and they said a manager would call me back later. I have still not gotten this resolved 7 hours later.

I ended up making a reservation at another steak house that we like and I do not think I will be trying Delmonico’s anytime soon.

Valentine’s is the worst friggin day to go out for dinner. Not worth it.

This new form of Delmonico’s sucks. I was a huge fan before the pandemic and lamented how long they got laid up with their rent situation and renovation. When they reopened, I was there the moment I found out. The dinner was extremely disappointing, especially with the change to their lobster Newburg, which was my favorite thing on their menu. I’ll give them one more shot now that they’re settled but I haven’t heard anything good about them and that’s worrying. Very afraid that they’re going the way of Luger’s in Brooklyn, where they’re a tourist trap that no locals would bother patronizing.

  13. Damn, you had to make a deposit?

There are good options still but definitely not the menu that was advertised.

Exactly why my wife and I end up doing stuff like BBQ, yakitori or some hole in the wall. Not as romantic, but way less shithousery
