Me and my friends dined at Alchemist on 2.24, and at the end of the meal we agreed that it was the most interesting experience in Copenhagen.

But after we got back to the hotel, we all developed diarrhea, lost our appetites, and felt nauseousā€¦ And I vomited twice on the flight back to US and was unable to walk independently. Even rn I still get diarrheašŸ˜¢

Our initial thought was that maybe it was caused by the fluorescent drinks or pig’s blood dessert. Curios has anyone have the same experience as us?

  1. Really sorry to hear that, hope you feel better soon. What was the response from the restaurant?

Did you tell them? Might want to get a drā€™s note asap and show it to them.

You should definitely inform the restaurant – they take such things very seriously and itā€™ll potentially help other diners

Guilt free fine dining!! That summer bod stays intact

  5. This is just the new 51st course entitled “clear out”.

So the thing about food poisoning is that it needs time to incubate. There are two main schools of food poisoning: infections and intoxications.

An intoxication is a bacteria that immediately attacks your gut flora and immune system, typically making your body try to expel the bacteria quickly, usually by vomiting. An infection is a bacteria that you ingest and stays in your system, feeding off other bacteria and waste in your digestive tract. It’s the byproduct of this bacteria that actually makes you sick, and usually because it has been in your system a while and is lower in your digestive tract it results in diarrhea.

Now, there are exceptions to both of these, intoxications and infections that can present in different ways, make you vomit and shit, shit and vomit, and a plethora of other symptoms.

All of this to say – if you finished dinner and headed back to your hotel and started having diarrhea, it more than likely came from something you invested long before your dinner at Alchemist.

Also maybe educate yourselves a little bit before making posts like this, while this post won’t affect business at all for a restaurant like Alchemist, something like this could lead to serious problems for a smaller restaurant in a smaller area. As a restaurant owner, it’s one of my biggest nightmares.
