I love the burnt cheese, but my wife still prefers Lou Malnatis.

I had pizza on my brain last week….I ate at:

    Pequods x2
    Piece
    Vito and Nicks

While it wasn’t great for my waistline, it did re-confirm my personal pizza rankings.

    Vito and Nicks – #1
    Piece #2
    Pequods #3

While Piece was the 2nd ranked Chicago pizza joint on that list…it deserves more recognition. Anyone who doesn’t mention Piece in the convo of Chicagos best pizza is a phony! 🍕🍕🍕🍕

I always got downvoted because Lou’s sucks Pequod’s is better. Look at that.. now I can never have Pequod’s because they’re more popular.

My wife is the same. Doesn’t like the caramelized cheese on the crust (it’s not burnt!), so we get Lou’s way more often.

  4. Lou Malnati’s crust is made of crackers chewed up by hobos.

I would go to Art of Pizza over Pequods any day.

    Fight me.

Best pizza in the U.S.? Not even best in Chicago the fuck lol

A lot of people online seem to recommend ordering a Pequod’s pie with light crust and extra cheese. I can see how that would make it much better.

It seems weird, though, that there’s this established workaround to make their house style palatable. Shouldn’t it be that way in the first place?

  8. I think ranking pizza is fucking stupid, but I will say my personal preference is for Art of Pizza, Bartoli’s, Spacca Napoli, Vito & Nick’s, Jimmy’s Pizza Cafe, and Kim’s Uncle Pizza over Pequods. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good as fuck, it’s just a little too doughy.

Also had Bad Johnny’s pizza not long ago and was really impressed.

man, who will be the first to capitalize on knowing of Burt’s Place now?

Giordanos is the best deep dish in Chicago and I will die on that hill. Lou Malnati’s is trash. Crunchy bread with a little bit of cheese and a big ass pool of water on it. Pequods is ok, only had it once, didn’t impress. The only deep dish better than Giordanos, is Giordanos reheated the next day. The cheese gets gooeyer and super melty and the sauce on top caramelizes.

Also deep dish isn’t pizza, it’s a fucking casserole.

  11. Is the first week of taking their show on the road sold out? I could only find placing orders for next week and beyond.

When I try Pequod’s for the first time, what would be your best 1, 2, 3, 4 toppings to add?

The problem it’s pequads is it’s not deep dish or Chicago style: it’s basically round jets. It’s Detroit style
