Sushi Miyuki – Shintomi, Tokyo, Japan
This was my first visit to the former Sushi Hashimoto space since Hashimoto-san left for his new location in August 2019. I’m not sure if nostalgia played a factor, but I think I found my new go-to spot for nigiri-only lunch courses.
The standard nigiri-only lunch course consists of 12 nigiri and 1 temaki at 8,800 yen. Nigiri are shaped rather large with generous cuts of above average quality neta. One nigiri was served with slightly over-cooked shari, but that was the only fault throughout the course.
Konno-san reminds me of a young Hashimoto-san in many ways. It’s no wonder he was entrusted to run the place.
Here is a summary of the total course.
1. Kohada (not pictured)
2. Madai (not pictured)
3. Akami
4. Hokkigai (not pictured)
5. Chu Toro
6. Aji
7. Tairagai (w/ nori slice)
8. Shime Saba
9. Hotaru Ika Gunkan
10. Akagai
11. Iwashi
12. Anago
Maguro Temaki
Add-on:
Sakuramasu
Bafun Uni (two varieties)
Total damage for the meal (with two sakes and water was 14,700 yen). The meal was leisurely paced at about 2 hours. You could be in and out in 1hr 15min if you stick to the standard course. I’m curious to see how the dinner course is and will try that in the near future.
