1. UPSTATE NEW YORK FOIE GRAS (Cointreau Flambéed with Quince, Membrillo, and Wild Dandelion Marmalade)

  2. NEW ZEALAND SEA TROUT (Grilled, Red Wine Wood Scented, Salsify, "Embeurrée de Choux," and Sauce "Genevoise")

  3. ELYSIAN FIELDS LAMB CHOP (Black Garlic, Vadouvan, Butternut Squash, Kabocha Squash, Braised Shank "Zucca" Pasta, and Sage-Lamb Jus)

  4. ARTISANAL CHEESES

Quite frankly, this was a very disappointing experience. I didn’t come in here expecting the old peak 3* level Daniel, but these dishes were simply so poor. The foie gras could only be described as oily. They cooked and drenched the fattiest part of an animal in a ton of oil, and the marmalade sauce they gave was way too sweet. The sea trout was not much better, the fish was quite overcooked, and it didn’t go well with any of its accompanying sauces. The fish dish had far too many competing flavors and none of them really meshed. The lamb chop was certainly the best of my courses. It was perfectly cooked, and I liked how they paired the black garlic with vadouvan. The side of shank “zucca” pasta was good, and I did like the sage notes from the jus. The only thing really bad about this dish was the plating, which was horrible, IMO. The cheeses were good and everything you’d expect, though I’ve had much better selections and quality at other great restaurants. Personally, I’d only give Daniel 1*. Total cost for the food was ~$225 after tip.
