I purchased this All American #7 at an estate sale today for $3. I know it can be upgraded by replacing the gauge and vent but It’s old. It doesn’t have the overpressure plug hole on it.

Any opinions on the safety of it (after upgrade and testing) without that overpressure plug hole? It’s filthy but absolutely no pitting on it.

I couldn’t pass it up for that price even though I currently use a modern 1930 but would love it if I could have a second useful pressure canner at this price.

  2. Aluminum polish is essentially abrasive toothpaste and I have brought many aluminum pots back to life with that method.

I am not familiar enough to know if it’s the vent pipe that needs replacing or simply the jiggler weight.

    All in all, great score.
