seems to be a lot of insecurity in LaLa Land re the superiority of ny food – it is pretty funny, because, as nyers, we don’t really care that much, do we?

On the other hand, difficult to find truly great bagels even in nyc these days – and difficult does ***not*** mean impossible 😎

I thought similarly about LA’s Eggslut. It’s just a fancy bacon, egg and cheese.

They were the same way about the wildfires last year. Weird thing to be defensive about. They can keep their wildfires and earthquakes.

Can we not do this comparison thing? Let them do their thing in their sub. If they hate bagels and pizza let them. Who gives a shit.

“I’ve never craved a bagel in my life.”

Uhh why do you think that is? Because all you’ve ever had is Einstein’s

Courage Bagels in LA looks really good 🤷‍♂️

  6. There’s a myriad of foods in LA that 360 windmill dunk on NYCs

lol i follow both subs, and both nyc and angelenos both in their feelings about food lmao.

both angelenos and new yorkers care more about each other than either care to admit lmao

John DeVore wrote one of my favorite love letters to NYC! I haven’t thought of him in years.

Why they so mad about a Bagel joke ? 😂😭😂😭

This idea that only a specific area can produce a good version of a specific food needs to die. I had good pizza in SF. I had good bagels in LA. There might be less options, but that doesn’t mean what’s present is not good. Any large city will be able to source the ingredients, barring a small handful of items.

    that thread summed up:

“NYers are so ignorant we have great pizza and bagels too, no food can be constrained to a single city!!!! oh and btw we have way better mexican food and all those millions of mexican people who live in nyc don’t know how to cook”

Yay, choose your own tribalism! Pick from the list below:

New York City – cheesecake, pizza, bagels, halal, beef patties, steak, speakeasies, subways, random acts of violence, squatters rights

Los Angeles – breakfast burritos, tacos, sushi, avocado toast, skinny people, street takeovers, weather, house with a yard

Seriously though this whole NYC vs LA thing is stupid. 80% of both cities are full of transplants anyway. Both are cultural icons made better by those who immigrated.

As a Californian. I thought it was funny 🤷‍♂️
