Hopefully this is OK to post. Interesting read and figured I'd share it as anyone who eats based around the med diet avoids red meats.

What's your take on red meats ?

Me personally I avoid them at all costs. Very difficult sometimes but I think what I'll take from this article is to try to implement more fish even canned types.

I eat red meat sometimes. Particularly around my period. I don’t absorb iron well due to various health conditions. And red meat is the best for my body. Particularly during that time. So I usually eat it in period week (and end up with red meat cravings). And don’t really eat it much outside of that.

I need to eat more small fish. I am trying to figure it out. I typically alternate fish, shrimp, and chicken as my main proteins. And also add beans to have a little less animal protein.

We have a small portion of red meat here about once a week.

Due to allergies, adversions, and sensitivities, without red meat our family meals would be limited to poultry or eggs for protein. And FED IS BEST around here. And it’s a good source of iron for me.

I do eat fish a couple/few times a week, but that’s either lunch or when the older kids are out. The youngest often eats vegetarian meals with me and occasionally will eat white fish if well seasoned.

I eat red meat about twice a month- usually once it will be around an ounce of me tasting whatever I’m cooking for my husband or whatever my father in law cooked. Then, roughly once or twice twice a year, I’ll have a steak at a restaurant. I don’t restrict my meat portions- I just do it like it that much.
