note: i wanted to write as many full-fledged reviews as possible, so i split the reviews in half lol. not all of the plates or photos are mine, but i did try everything pictured. all of these are with my mom, fiancé, or both!
sunday: perry st, a jean-george’s restaurant (crispy calamari with yuzu dipping sauce, tagliatelle pasta with winter mushrooms, raspberry lychee bellini, laherte freres champagne)
we came here for an Easter brunch, although my Easter isn’t until May 5th. They were very accommodating to our dietary concerns because of this fasting period! They had amazing, quick service and a very kind waitress. the crispy calamari was delicious, and my raspberry lychee bellini was one of my favorite cocktails from this week. 8/10
monday: I just had cava so it’s not pictured lol. 10/10 i love cava
Tuesday: kazunori (the nozie set menu, ozeki one cup sake)
while we were served quickly and the chefs were nice, i didn’t like kazunori as much as some of the other places i went this week, even other sushi places. the atmosphere was very quiet, and i didn’t feel comfortable talking to my fiancé while we were in there. they also didn’t have what was in the menu listed, so i ordered blindly and didn’t end up liking two of the rolls. i liked it a lot better when i had ordered the 6-roll menu last time. 5/10
wednesday: waverly inn (hand-cut steak tartare with capers, amish chicken, baltimore jumbo lump crab cakes with smoked jalapeño tartar sauce, air up spritzer)
i’ll admit, i chose this place because of the taylor swift pap photo. did i regret it?? no. this is one of the top meals i had this week. the amish chicken was crispy and flavorful, the crab cakes were delicious, and the steak tartare was perfect with the chip portions. the air up spritzer was delicious, and we went on to order espresso martinis as well… which were also immaculate. not pictured is the apple rhubarb crumble i had, which was also AMAZING. the only note i have is that somehow these cocktails were STRONG. the atmosphere was incredible; and the service was always very efficient. our waiter was very kind and helpful as well. also not pictured were some of the BEST OYSTERS i’ve EVER HAD… not just in manhattan but EVER! 10/10
if i had to rank these three restaurants, i’d put it as:
3: kazunori
2: perry st
1: waverly inn
i would still return to all of these, but would be most excited about waverly inn! i would recommend all of these, but would recommend asking what the courses are at kazunori, since i don’t think it changes? at all of these, i was in and out in under two hours. my mom arrived in nyc on wednesday night, so the first two were just with me and my fiancé- i can’t really give price reflections because of that, but i often don’t go to these kinda of restaurants unless it’s an anniversary, birthday, or family is visiting us.
i do have some favorite restaurants here, and j would say waverly inn has made it into this list!

Which kazu did you go to? I’ve never had a quiet experience at the one on 28th in Chelsea/k town.
You can substitute most of the rolls too. I always mix and match.

I gotta say, that is the most underwhelming looking roll presentation I’ve ever seen lol
