Chino-Latino, the sub-cuisine that could only brought to you by the Communist takeover of Cuba and the tight confines of New York City in the 1970s.

The two names that always ring out in terms of age at least is La Dinastia on W 72nd and Broadway (a little way from Gray's Papaya) and La Caridad 76 which closed during the Pandemic and was resurrected on W 72nd.

Chino-Latino Cuisine | La Dinastia | New York (ladinastia72.com)

Was wondering if anyone had a chance to try out LaCaridad72 and if they could make a direct comparison on dishes between them and La Dinastia?

ie: Whose got the better Ropa Vieja? Chicken Cracklin? Any dishes that one restaurant does better than the other?

How about “chifa” the chinese-peruvian cuisine in many NYC Peruvian restaurants for decades? That’s “chino-latino” and **not** brought by a communist takeover of a country…

Both were great in my opinion, slight edge to dinastia for their green sauce

Dinastia has a better egg foo young. Better ropa vieja too. Caridad’s was kind of sweet

I just miss the Chino Latino places all over my neighborhood (Chelsea) back in the day.

Thankfully Flor De Mayo got mentioned. And i believe there is a connection going way back to La Dynastia.
And Wow. I can’t believe someone mentioned those legendary places on 8th Ave. in Chelsea.
La Taza de Oro had the best Cafe con Leche.

There is a video somewhere on you tube about that place. There closing was a real loss.

Also chino Latino was also used by Bayamo, which is long gone.

I haven’t been to La Caridad 72 but have been twice now to La Dinastia, and both times it’s been a homey, delicious, and cheap(!) meal. My husband and my go-to now after catching a film at the nearby Lincoln Sq. AMC.
