Longtime lurker finally making a post: made a reservation after already arriving in San Sebastian last year right before they received their first michelin star. A few small kinks to work out here and there but IMO, beautiful beautiful location, relaxed yet fun hospitality, and really good food. Definitely saw the inspiration from extebarri but two completely different cuisines, outside of that delicious lick of fire.
1-2: gorgeous exterior and interior
3: one of the first few small bites, crispy rice with tuna
4: lobster kobujime, partridge and chestnut, eel kabayaki, anchovies
5: caviar
6: oyster mitsuba
7: tougan (braised melon dish that was a punch of flavor in the best way possible)
8: cow tongue, daikon, koji
9: prawns (probably the dish with the most resemblance to extebarri)
10: mushrooms and soba
11: Red bream with chard
12: beef chop (was told that the cow was born in 2005)
13-15: various desserts, can’t remember what they were exactly but all were fruity/floral profiles and tasted delicious
Definitely a great experience and food. Even with the over fire cooking, there was still a lighter flavor profile, likely from the japanese influence (much appreciated by some members of my party after a week in san sebastian). Looking forward to coming back to this beautiful place one day.

Interesting, seems to lean much more Japanese than I thought. Local or Japanese ingredients?

Just went as well. Haven’t been to extebarri so can’t compare but really enjoyed it and thought the service and ambiance were delightful (compared to elkano where we had a horrible table and horrible service!)
