Did these a couple of days ago and they were seriously good. You can't beat home cooked, though I admit the burger itself was shop bought from Sainsbury's. This is the best way to cook mushrooms, as well.

Aren’t you supposed to wait for the flame to go out in the coal before grilling?

  2. Ok-Network-1491

You really post this here and expect people not to argue? I can maybe excuse the fungus next to the protein… but “don’t argue”? Those are fighting words on Reddit… especially in this subreddit 😂😂😂

  3. talks-a-lot

I would rephrase to say the most fun way to cook a burger.

    Edit: cook.

Lookin alright to me! I’m a lump charcoal griller and I get mine at like 600 and throw them on the hot zone for char. Looks like red tint from mesquite charcoal, and I believe you when you say they’re not overcooked because this is the way.

    Cheers from the US!

  5. monkey_juicer

No lie told by OP, charcoal flavor is superior to smash patty crust.

  6. otter-otter

Such a weird / bait thing to say. There are different applications, and processes of cooking that are suited to different styles of burger / end result.

    Zzzzz

Bitch, everyone knows the microwave is goated.

  8. Dem mushrooms bro! Invite me. 🙂

Looks great and those will taste so good.

Ron: WHAT IN THE DEVIL’S NAME IS THIS??

    Chris: Portabello mushrooms!

    Ron: Where’s the steak?????

Chris: Oh there is no steak. It’s a healthier option.

    Ron: *collapses

It’s true, but getting consistent charcoal-grilled patties is a much more complicated affair that involves more moving parts; building and feeding the fire, temperature control, managing flareups and hot spots, all gotta be on point. There’s a lot to screw up; getting perfectly done flame grilled burgers is practically an art.

Griddles are an easy way to consistently delicious burgers, but it’s also limiting. And the smashburger cult is just a little bit cringe.

  11. I love me my smash burgers and so does my shop of 80 which I have cooked for them at least 20 times (that’s over 1600 but who’s counting). But lately my wife has been asking for charcoal grilled because she misses that type of burger and she is right. It is a great burger. So I am here to say, I guess, that different cooking methods produce a different end product that are not so easily compared to like products.

Probably for a different sub, but it’s like pizza… thin, hand tossed, pan, Detroit, New York, low and slow or a 90 second Neapolitan… they are all great and have their place at my table.

  12. Prestigious_Snow1589

Absolutely, nothing like that charcoal flavor

  13. Is that blue cheese on the mushrooms? If so, tell me more

  14. 99Reasons_why

Man that look phenomenal, and on a Webber. Got me drooling over here.

  15. robetyarg

Definitely prefer this type of backyard, summer BBQ burger over anything else. Reminds me of home and family. Looks great!

I cook portabella’s for my wife on the grill. She loves them and uses A1 sauce which kinda give it a steak like flavor. So what is that you put on it anyway?

  17. the_business007

I agree. Nothing beats a burger cooked on charcoal. Same with the mushrooms. Phenomenal.

  18. YeeClawFunction

I did a few souse vide and then seared them on some hot coals. Turned out awesome. Chared on the outside, and pink/juicy in the middle.

  19. Maleficent-Bit1995

Theirs no right way or wrong way. As long as it’s tasty it’s all good.
Grill em fry em stick em in a stew!
Crumb em steam em bake em smash em. All burgers are great!!!
Except vegan get that shit out of here u weirdos

My husband and my favorite way to eat a burger…with a big, grilled portabello mushroom on top! Look delicious! Btw, what did you put in the mushroom? Some kind of seasoned butter?

  21. Turbos_Bitch

Nah. All the good juices are leaking onto the charcoal. Flat top or pan is way to go

  22. BeastM0de1155

Burgers are similar to steaks, you need the money shot! I want to see juice and a nice red/pink color. I like char on a burger, but show me Da Juice!

  23. Can’t we all just agree that there’s no best way to cook a burger? Burgers are so versatile and we should appreciate the fact that there are so many great ways to cook the meat. I love burgers grilled over charcoal, the bbq aroma is just superior, especially when the burger is juicy enough…it’s something to die for! But I also love a thinly smashed patty from the flat top, the crispy caramelized edge that makes a perfect contrast to a juicy backside…just heavenly as well! Burgers are just awesome, no matter what shape, size and color they come in ♥️

Edit: the burgers in your picture look amazing! I can **smell** this photo! It’s 1 am right now and you made me insanely jealous and hungry

  24. sunzastar33

It’s always good to have all options ready, so when someone comes and argues why you are using that method of cooking, then ask them which style would they prefer to accommodate them.

  25. Dependent_Rub_6982

What is on the mushrooms? The burgers look good.

  26. Past-Product-1100

I agree if I have the option fat burgers on the grill. If I’m indoors I’m smashing on the griddle.

  27. Those look like pucks from a store, make your own patties FFS.

  28. All_Hail_Space_Cat

Damn bro you keep the gills on thoes portobello

  29. chocolateboomslang

I won’t argue, I’ll just confidently state the truth that a flat surface is superior.
