am I the only guy here who wants a stack it a foot tall?

If it’s too tall to bite through the whole thing, then it’s too tall. I don’t want to eat the condiments separate from the meat and bun. I want to eat it all together.

Burgers have to get taller if you add toppings like a block of cheese, tomatoes, bacon, onion rings, jalapeños, etc…

Too wide outstrips bun support and creates flop, which can be just as bad as too tall; you end up with a very similar issue, lack of cohesion between the bun and the toppings leading to spillage and eventually total loss of structural integrity. Burgers get unwieldy and unstable as they get bigger, in general, and going wider instead of taller can only take you so far.

Some of the ‘wider not taller’ gripe is really more about ‘too many toppings’ or ‘patty is too thick’, and exists in situations where being of a similar size but wide instead of tall would not have helped. Those are still both valid preferences, we just gotta say what we mean with them instead of acting like building wider never has any drawbacks.

Yeah, I’m not gonna lie something in my lizard brain just goes ‘ooo’ when I see a stacked burger. Especially if the veggies look really good.

    Wider > Taller

    I don’t make the rules. That’s just a fact.

I like my burgers like I like my women: verbally abusive. Wait, what were we talking about?
