First time trying out Cariño on Broadway in Chicago. Newer restaurant opened by Norman Fenton who has worked in a lot of kitchens in the city. It’s in the same space that Brass Heart occupied which he once worked at. We went for the Taco Omakase which is $125pp and has one seating a night at 10pm. The price is inclusive of 2 free drinks off the drink menu pictured above, and then every drink after is priced above. 10 courses.

Unfortunately we didn’t get a menu with the different plates so going off memory here.

  1. Drink menu
  2. Sueños cocktail. Amazing! I ended up having 3! SO had the Morada Sour and really enjoyed it and our friend had the margarita and thought it was fantastic!
  3. Michelada style oyster with Modelo foam on top was
  4. Interpretation of Aguachile. My favorite course of the evening! It was so good and refreshing!
  5. Their amazing blue corn masa stuffed with smoked duck. Maybe 3rd favorite bite of the night.
  6. Some type of tostada that I can’t for the life of me remember what was on it. Also amazing!
  7. Truffle quesadilla with Oaxaca cheese. My 2nd favorite dish of the night! This was an additional price but everyone opted for it!
  8. Rock Shrimp taco. My least favorite but my husband loved it!
  9. Can’t really remember. It was cow, possibly a cut right above the udder? It was fantastic!! Salty but so good!
  10. Waygu steak with fresh made salsa. Besides the rock shrimp this might have been my least favorite. The salsa, while good was SOOOOOOOO salty!
  11. Dessert was mango, hibiscus/chili deliciousness!

Overall the experience was 8/10! And I would definitely be back for their tasting menu!! My biggest complaints were that some of the dishes were too salty, and when giving out descriptions it was really quick and sometimes hard to follow along. But chef and everyone working there were fantastic!!! Definitely recommend!!
