r/nosear, nice cook on it though. I’m sure it tasted good.

Weak sear but good temp. I’d suggest waiting to add the butter next time because the water in it turns to steam and screws up the sear. Sear in hot oil and add butter at the end to baste.

Needs more sear

Cooked like a hamburger 🍔

Could use a better sear. Is the butter from pic 1 the same as pic 3 lol

Non serrated knives make for better presentation, and for a cook like that you shouldn’t need one.
Great job.

How you manage to not melt the butter 🤔

need more sear. + you are using cast iron. try using torching it with gas torch next time. that will do the sear.
Looks good, butter post cook is what killed the sear though. You want a dry steak going on the pan use the butter for basting after the sear is achieved.

Hope she takes you out for Fathers Day.

Like a 4. Temp is great, sear is illegal

Looks delicious. The Maillard crust on the exterior could be a little more developed, but, I would not say no to those steaks.

Her ***meat flaps*** were pre buttered, but still ended up “under excited” (no sear), and lackluster overall.
Still, probably an enjoyable piece.
Cheers.

Oil pan, add butter after the seer, remove the asbestos garnish
anonyvrguy
The pan was not hot enough. The steak was boiled in oil, not seared. Get that pan smoking and repeat the process.
