What are your thoughts on cipriani for Italian food? I’ve only ever heard good things about the food but last time I went I was so unimpressed. What is the hype all about?

Used to be great. Now it’s extremely overpriced and pretty disgusting. Last two times I went I felt sick to my stomach afterwards.

They’re union busters and can go fuck themselves

So overrated. I was not impressed with the quality of the food, especially at those insane prices. Much better options all over the city for a lot less!

$10 worth of ingredients for $150.

The vegas one is good. The New York ones suck except for Casa Cipriani, which is “decent” and overpriced

Classic “see and be seen” restaurant where food is overpriced and an after thought. If you want to hang out at a place like that that’s fine, but don’t go for the food.

That’s gotta be the worst looking tuna tartare I’ve ever seen. Cipriani is a joke, wildly overpriced, wholly average food. If you want a good laugh read Frank Bruni’s NY Times review from several years back.

This food looks like it’s from Olive Garden. Shit, I think Olive Garden has better presentation.

Not the best, not the worst. Basically 50% of all Italian spots in NY.

There’s a great Anthony Bourdain quote about Cipriani:
> Dictators tend to eat really really badly, you know, they insist on it. It’s like the super rich! I mean, where do they go? There’s all these great Italian restaurants in the city but they go to Cipriani, you know, they go to Nello, they pay a hundred and twenty bucks for a bowl of spaghetti pomodoro or whatever they’re paying. Why? Because they want to live in that bubble. The one thing they can be guaranteed there or at Philippe or Mr. Chow or places like that is that they won’t be called out by a normal person who is pointing out the obvious. Your plastic surgery is botched. You know, regardless of what your friends tell you, you’re an evil person, and you’re eating really shitty food, which you’re paying too much for. Those places, they’re insulated from that, you know. You want complicity, everyone at Cipriani is complicit, you know, everyone who goes to Nello or Philippe or Mr. Chow, understands that they are signing on to, uh. The despots’ club

As someone who worked at Casa Cipriani: people go there for the prestige. They want to tell people that they were at Cipriani. That’s where the Hadids and DiCaprio’s of the world are hanging out and this is how they tell you that they’re on that caliber. When I worked there I met endless celebrities, billionaires, politicians, biggest names you could think of from presidents to richest in the world. That’s why people go there. The food is meh, some of it is not even remotely fresh, just frozen and put in a microwave. It’s edible but it’s nowhere near being good enough to justify the price.

The only thing that stands out is the vanilla meringue cake… other than that mid

I thought that’s where underaged girls go to meet old men and vice versa?

All I gather from Ciprianis is the new Real Housewives of New York on Bravo don’t shut the F up about this place. They even had a story line of going to this place instead of Catch cause Catch is tacky now apparently (I’m not someone who would bother going to either of these places- give me a hole in a wall and call it a day)

My mom and her wife had their wedding there like 15 years ago. They paid a BOATLOAD of money and the food was not worth it. We actually enjoyed the diner food we had the morning after more. It was flavorless. Ive had better food at Carmines and Bucca De Bepo.

Overhyped. Bland. Not worth the money.

This picture of painfully unimpressive? Is that tuna tartar? Frozen canned and dumped on your plate?

Times Square Olive Garden is unironically better

Food was way overpriced and just fine.
Even worse, though, was the ambiance. As soon as I went in, it felt like I was in a room from a bad dream. That entire dining room feels like something straight out of a cruise ship, but MUCH more cramped. I couldn’t hear anything but loud old men talk about things I could never even fathom caring for, it eventually all turned into one big blob of old man noise fighting against the most faint dean martin playlist playing through the speakers. What a nightmare.
Food was a 7/10 but because of its price I’m giving it a 5.5/10. Experience was a 3/10.

Tell me your food is overpriced and dated without making me eat it

It’s mid at best and embarrassingly wannabe sceney. I would never want to eat here or be seen here. People with 2K instagram followers who think they’re “influencers” go here.
