My very first ever homemade cake and buttercream frosting. No it was not supposed to look like the cake that hagrid made for Harry but it did taste really good.

Looks tasty af. Are those strawberries or raspberries in the middle?

Thats the proper amount of buttercream, I would absolutely devour this cake!!!

Presentation will be a skill you learn and hone as you progress with baking, but for a first cake I think this looks great!

  3. Personally I think it might be a bit too much cream, though I’m sure some will disagree with me. To each their own.

One thing you could do is spread the cream a bit more evenly. It’s easier to do with a round cake. Hold the flat edge of a knife against the cream and rotate the tray it’s on.

Love strawberry. Cake and frosting look great and I am not a yellow cake fan.

I’d absolutely smash this into my mouth.

I feel like for me personally, it’s a bit heavy on frosting but I LOVE strawberry so this would be an amazing treat ☺️

Messing looking and delicious always beats beautiful and bland

A little heavy on the icing but it still looks delicious!

It looks nice, but the butter cream looks like it splitted
Maybe the temperature of the butter wasn’t right when you mixed it in

Which butter cream did you make ?

Get yourself a bench scraper so the frosting is more even and neat

rustic and delicious looking, but the frosting is a bit thick.

Looks like your buttercream has broken (or will be soon), but I’d still eat it.

I really enjoy baked sweets with red fruit – rhubarb, raspberry, strawberry…yum! Very nostalgic – I was supposed to have basically the cake you made for my graduation back in the day but the bakery forgot the fruit filling lol

  16. I mean this as a compliment and not an insult ok?! But it reminds me of Hagrids cake from Harry Potter. Made with love ❤️

It actually looks pretty decent!! I’m allergic to strawberries but I’d avoid those & eat the cake. I love buttercream 🙂

I mean I wanna eat it so you did great

This cake has the vibes of something you look forward to eating after a long day. Just reclining in an easy chair in your coziest robe or pajamas after a nice hot bath/shower. You got the next day off. So now it’s just you, your drink of choice, and a slice o’ this cake.

Oh my gosh I just wanna stuff my face in that cake.🍰 It looks so soft and freaking delicious, like summer on a plate. 🩷 Wonderful job!!

The only tip I would give is maybe we cut the cake pieces in half that way you have four layers of filling.

I love the icing to cake ratio! No joke, it’s so much better than when people skimp on icing 😍

  24. For a first cake and presumably not having much in the way of tools, you did a great job! No crumbs on the outside and structurally sound? That’s a win for sure! Also, most importantly, it looks delicious 😋

One tip: don’t go for smooth if you don’t have the tools to do it. Make it intentionally uneven! This is a good example: https://chelsweets.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/mini-cake-decorated-with-textured-sides-1-819×1024.jpg.webp

You can also use other toppings, like sprinkles, cookie crumbs, or chocolate shavings around the base or sides You can also drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce over the top. Both help to hide imperfections

  25. I want to eat it right now. Yummy! That icing looks so soft.

To me- I love charming imperfect cakes! You worked hard and I’m proud. Throw a couple flowers on there it would look on purpose!

Looks delicious! Try putting some of that yummy buttercream between the layers, then do your filling on top. It will help keep the filling from sinking into the bottom layer.
