From the beginning of this scene.
Fascinated by the concept of a bodega (lawless gas stations without gas?). Gonna be staying near Carnegie Hall. I'm guessing the answer is gonna be "any bodega", but I've never been in one before and don't know if there are any near that area? If not, what part of town do I go to find them? Any giveaways for which would have a decent sandwich?

I’ve never in my life heard this description of a bodega. Think more like a 7-11 that usually has a deli and hot food prepared on a grill. It’s not that bizarre of a concept.
And yes, the answer is any of them. Just go to Google maps and search “bodega” or “grill” or “deli”
Bird and Branch and Rex both make breakfast sandwiches. But any bodega of which there are no good ones in midtown. Compton’s makes a solid breakfast sandwich it’s nowhere near where you’re staying.
Bodegas are corner stores. Not gas stations, though out in the country sure gas stations or Stewart’s fulfill the role.

In midtown you’re probably more likely to get it from a truck/cart than a bodega, though there’s a handful of ‘delis’ around as well which would be fine. (no specific recs, I don’t do midtown enough)
The traditional sandwich you’re looking for is a bacon egg and cheese, on a roll, with saltpepperketchup (or just “yah” when he asks if you want saltpepperketchup), if you can get hot sauce that’s obviously great. You’re probably paying nearly $10 for one in that area (which sucks, but that’s life).
The real key for me is that the bread gets steamed when it’s wrapped in foil, which makes it nice and soft (since it’s probably going stale otherwise).

It’s just a convenience store with a deli counter and grill. They’re great, and integral part of daily life in the city, but not exactly “fascinating.”
If you want a bacon, egg and cheese on a roll, walk into the nearest bodega, wait your turn if there’s a line at the counter, and ask for a bacon, egg and cheese on a roll.
Head over to Eighth or Ninth Ave and you find plenty of them
My favorite is on the north west corner of 48th St and Eighth Ave but they’re all good. Some carts are good too
