The battle of the chocolate with marshmallow swirls. Growing up I ate rocky road all the time from Baskin Robbin’s and I still prefer Baskin Robbin’s rocky road compared to Haagen Dazs even though the chocolate base is higher quality in Haagen Dazs. It just hits different from nostalgia. But today I will be comparing the Haagen Dazs to Ben and Jerry’s.

The differences is that Rocky Road contains almonds while Phishfood contains dark chocolate fish and caramel as their mix ins. Both have a chocolate base and marshmallow swirl.

Haagen Dazs has an icier feel to the ice cream. I could tell just by scooping it and the biting into it. The chocolate made was not too sweet and you get a big hit of sweetness mainly from the marshmallow swirl. I have to say I don’t enjoy the almonds in here as much as the chocolate fish in Ben & Jerry’s. For the people who don’t like chocolate because it’s waxy or it doesn’t melt the almonds in here were big chunks and the texture felt like stale almonds since it’s been frozen and I have to chew it. I rate this 7/10.

Ben and Jerry’s felt denser and it was like a chewyness when you bite into the ice cream which I enjoyed more. It’s noticeably sweeter than Haagen Dazs but less sweet than Jenni’s. I didn’t have differences in sweetness when eating parts of the chocolate base, caramel swirl or fudge fish and felt the sweetness level was the same with the different mix ins. I am really shocked how much I like this ice cream more than rocky road. I rate this 9/10. I don’t think I will buy rocky road again as this is a better ice cream in texture and mix ins. If the sweetness was less like the Haagen Dazs rocky road then it would be perfect because I would be able to eat more of it in one sitting.
