Okay I’m new at canning so this may be common sense but I’m going to ask anyways. I am using the recipes in the Ball Back to Basics canning book. I made the peach jam recipe and followed it exactly. It said it would make 6 half pints, and I was scraping the pan to get 4. I did use the variation in the cookbook to do peach cobbler jam , would using brown sugar(as suggested) make that much a difference ? Is it still okay to eat or did I do something wrong ?

The yields on recipes tend to be estimates in my experience. I often get +/- 1-2 jars on my recipes. As long as you followed the recipe your jam is still fine to eat and store.
