We can't afford super nice steak, but for my wife's birthday we splurged a little bit and bought a USDA Prime Ribeye. Picture 1 is when I pulled it out of the package the night before and salted it and let it dry brine overnight. Picture 2 is how it looked after pulling it out of the fridge and before coating it in pepper and tossing it in the sous vide. Picture 3 is after 2 hours at 129 in the water. Picture 4 is after tossing it in the cast iron ripping hot and adding an herb butter baste. Picture 5 is the final meal. What do y'all think of how I did? Tried some stuff that I've learned from this sub.

Overcooked and the sear is weak but the nice thing about ribeye is you can screw it up and it’s still great

Ask her, don’t ask us…I mean, you’re the one that gets to sleep with her…or not!

  7. I like a bit more sear but otherwise looks great!

As a husband who also loves his wife, it makes me happy that you made your wife happy with a chunk of beef. Enjoy

Food cooked by someone who you love and who loves you. Can’t be bought at any price.

It looks delicious! I hope you both enjoyed it.

  14. I’d say maybe a bit more black pepper (if that’s her thing) but other than that, spot on!

Solidly done! How’d you season the green beans and was there gravy?

  16. I think you may have misinterpreted her request…

Guga always says that sous vide cooks the steak better. Now I see he was right

My wife loves a steak dinner for birthdays/mother’s days. I go to a local butcher and he hooks it up. 👍🏻

Looks great. The steak but you need to work on the additions. But generally good. Where’s the sauce? Not being negative honestly. Sous vide is not generally good for steak but the steak looks great with its marbling. Tasty
